Meet the Beacon Lights Staff
The Beacon Lights staff is responsible for production of the magazine on a monthly basis. The magazine and its staff are organized under and overseen by the Federation Board of the Protestant Reformed Young People’s Societies.
Brendan Looyenga
Editor-in-Chief
As editor-in-chief, Brendan is responsible for editorial policy and for presiding at our staff meetings. He is also responsible for the editorial column and the general direction of the magazine.
Leah Vanden Berg
Secretary
As our secretary, Leah is responsible for helping with correspondence related to the Beacon Lights and also for keeping an accurate record of the minutes of all meetings.
Jake Dykstra
Business Manager
Jake has served on the staff for many years, as a former Writers Correspondent and as current Business Manager. He is responsible for the finances of the magazine and for managing subscriptions.
Leah Decker
Promotions Manager
As Promotions Manager, Leah is responsible for increasing awareness of the magazine inside and outside the PR churches. She also manages our social media, including Facebook and Instagram.
Aaron VanDyke
Contributing Writers Correspondent
As one of our Contributing Writers Correspondents, Aaron is responsible for finding writers and articles for the various rubrics and for proposing new rubrics, articles, and writers. If you have an idea for an article, or you’d like to see a specific issue topic in the future, OR you would like to write for the Beacon Lights, contact Aaron or Josh!
Ashley Huizinga
Archivist
As Archivist, Ashley keeps track of our ever-growing Archives (82 years and counting, praise God!), and manages the uploading of past and present issues to the website.
Joshua Harris
Contributing Writers Correspondent
As one of our Contributing Writers Correspondents, Josh is responsible for finding writers and articles for the various rubrics and for proposing new rubrics, articles, and writers. Managing Editor
Dan is our managing editor extraordinaire, responsible for assisting the editor in carrying out all their duties.
Kristin Marcus
Secretary
Kristin is the Beacon Lights secretary, whose duties include taking minutes at all meetings and managing the publication's correspondence.
